Matt is an Associate, Manager, and Senior Electrical Engineer with J.L. Richards & Associates Limited, a consulting firm that provides multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, and planning services to diverse clients. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and is a licenced Professional Engineer.

Matt is the Chair of the Sudbury Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario, and was awarded a Fellowship through Engineers Canada in recognition of his 10+ years giving back to the engineering profession through volunteer work.

Born and raised in Val Caron, Matt attended Ecole Secondaire Catholique l’Horizon.

Q: What is the number one thing you are working toward that you haven’t yet accomplished?
A: I would like to continue working towards finding the perfect work/life balance.

Q: What would be the theme song of your life?
A: “I Lived” by OneRepublic

Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is seeing staff that I’ve hired enjoy their jobs, excel in the role they were hired for, and get promoted to other roles within the company.

Q: Share something about yourself that others would be surprised to know.
A: Most people would be surprised to know that I’ve been an amateur beekeeper for the past three years.

Q: What makes you proud to be a Sudburian?
A: I am proud to live in a city that continues to grow more and more diverse and is so accepting of individuals of all backgrounds.
