Samuel Howard, 25, is a scientist. He is currently the Nipissing
University Environmental co-ordinator, teaching Introduction to
Environmental Science to 250 students. As a University of Guelph
Master's student, he is a field technician at the Canadian Forestry Centre.
Q: What
is your greatest accomplishment?
A: I wrote The Care and Research
of Wood Frogs, a guide that
encompasses the full life cycle of
wood frogs, and details the various
endpoints that can be monitored to
determine toxicity of the substance
in question. Currently, it is in the
second-edition update phase. This
work is in partnership with Dr. Dave
Hackett from Nipissing University.
Q: Who is your most valued mentor?
A: Dr. Dave Hackett has shown me the
importance of perseverance and
ambition.
Q: What do you love most about North Bay
and area ?
A: The city has a university, and many
cultural events that I look forward
to. It also has access to ecotourism
activities.
Q: What else would you like to
accomplish?
A: I want to finish my Master's from
the University of Guelph, and tour
Eastern Europe.
