Kurt Tempelmans Plat is 17 and still in high school, yet he operates two
small businesses, KTP Indoor Tennis, and Rent-A-Teen. In the summer, he
works at the North Bay Tennis Centre. In winter, he can be found working
at the North Bay Nordic Ski Club. He plans to study for his MBA, and
eventually own his own business in the hotel and restaurant industry.
Q: What
is your greatest accomplishment?
A: My work ethic. I am very
determined, hard-working, and
strive to achieve my goals. Without
these principles, I would not be the
person I am, and would not be able
to accomplish all of the things I
have so far.
Q: Who is your most valued mentor?
A: Although my parents play a great
part in my life, my most valued
mentor is Sylvie Vannier. English
teacher, curling coach, and friend
are words that describe her.
Lessons I learned from Sylvie have
been inspiring to me. She is the
one who suggested I go to Youth
Entrepreneurship Camp, one of the
best business-oriented things I have
ever done.
Q: What do you love most about North Bay
and area ?
A: The many parks and forests in and
around North Bay. My top spot in
the Bay is definitely the waterfront.
I love walking along Government
Dock and sitting at the end with a
few friends to appreciate the view.
Q: What else would you like to
accomplish?
A: I've always thought of opening
my own hotel, restaurant, cinema,
golf course, and mini putt. I hope
to achieve at least one of the
businesses, and eventually expand
my own little empire.
