Khouri Long, 31, is a sports therapist, and co-owner of Cor Maximus, a
health, fitness centre and sports therapy clinic. She and her husband lived
in England for six years before they came home to North Bay to start a
family. In 2009, she was named an Influential Woman of Northern Ontario
(Northeast Young Entrepreneur).
Q: What
is your greatest accomplishment?
A: It gives me great pride that I was a
part of the initial planning process
in the creation of such a wonderful
business. As a sports therapist,
my greatest accomplishment was
working with NHL players during the
year of the strike. I was able to ask
numerous questions and learn from
them as much as I possibly could.
Q: Who is your most valued mentor?
A: It is important to have several
mentors as everyone has a different
view on business dynamics.
My co-workers provide me with
opportunities to grow as a business
owner. They teach me the personal
side to running a business. Al
McDonald continues to show me
the amount of work that is needed
to run a successful and growing
business. Katharine and John
Strang are continuously providing
me with encouragement and
support.
Q: What do you love most about North Bay
and area ?
A: Having grown up in this area, I knew
the opportunities it would provide
for my children. They will be able to
participate in numerous sports and
activities, both indoor and outdoor.
They will be able to enjoy all four
seasons. They have the opportunity
to be bilingual. They will also learn
the sense of community.
Q: What else would you like to
accomplish?
A: I believe Cor Maximus will continue
to grow and become bigger and
better. Anything is possible.
