Q: What is the number one thing you are working toward that you haven’t yet accomplished?
A: The number one thing that I am working toward is expanding my knowledge and experience to become a more competent mining engineer. One of the milestones in this path, that I am really excited for, is seeing the successful execution of a mine ventilation system designed by me.
Q: What would be the theme song of your life?
A: I can’t pick one song, but the theme music of my life is definitely Iranian classical music that is the music that I grew up with.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: As a mining engineer doing ventilation design I contribute to making a safer and healthier work environment for people working in our current and future mines. It feels very rewarding when we come up with a new design or find a more economical solution to improve the health and safety of our workplace in challenging environments.
Q: Share something about yourself that others would be surprised to know.
A: As a kid, I learned to play a musical instrument called “Santour”. Currently, I am training myself to play another musical instrument called “Setar” − I need to practice much, much more though.
Q: What makes you proud to be a Sudburian?
A: I am a mining engineer and Sudbury is a beautiful mining town and that’s the chemistry between us. Sudbury is small enough to keep me away from big cities’ headaches while offering a variety of services and activities to keep me supported and entertained. Also, the beautiful nature of Sudbury allows me to enjoy outdoor activities throughout the year conveniently.
