G-Rant has been host of the Morning Hot Tub with G-Rant and Sherri K program on the New Hot 93.5 radio station since January of 2013. Together they’ve formed the number one show in the city for three straight years. Previous to that, G hosted the afternoon show. His radio roots began in Ottawa where he began pushing buttons on weekends for CFRA and BOB FM and eventually worked his way to Hot’s flagship station, The New Hot 89.9. G-Rant has been in Sudbury since the New Hot 93.5 launched in August of 2009.
Q: What’s the number one thing you are working toward that you haven’t yet accomplished?
A: To be the best I can be, personally and professionally. Every day, I try and learn something new and grow.
Q: What is the biggest obstacle you’ve overcome?
A: I battled cancer for three years, eventually receiving a double stem cell transplant in 2016, which removed me from my passion for close to a year. I’ve been cancer-free for over a year now.
Q: What are 3 things you can’t live without?
A: My wife, music, and my cat, Tom Brady
Q: What would be the theme song of your life?
A: “Nothing is Promised” by Rihanna and Mike WiLL Made-It
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: Hearing stories about how our show has affected others. We try our best to provide a platform where our listeners feel comfortable, engaged and entertained. We try to be as real as possible and, in return, we receive real stories from our fans about how our form of entertainment has gotten them through rough times. It happens more than you think, and it’s always a sobering reminder about the importance of what we do.
