Trang Tran (P.Eng) is the manager, research and development and commercialization, at BESTECH. She was born in Vietnam and immigrated with her family when she was five. Married with two young children, she contributes her time to CIM, and encourages young women to pursue careers in science and engineering through her work with WISE.

Q: What motivates you?
A: My greatest motivations are to provide the best quality of life for my family, to make my parents proud, and to fulfil my potential and not settle for "good enough."

Q: If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be?
A: I would like to meet my mother's parents who are deceased. To dialogue with the people who helped shape my mother into the strong and intelligent woman she is would be amazing.

Q: What do you enjoy about living in Northern Ontario?
A: Having moved to Sudbury seven years ago, I have come to love this great city. Some of my family's favourite activities include camping on Manitoulin Island, swimming at the local beaches, and visiting Science North and Dynamic Earth. Sudbury is a great place to raise a family while building a prosperous and stable career.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Growing up I wanted to find a career that would make me happy, that I could be great at, and that would allow me to make a difference. Today, I am an engineer at a great company which challenges me and allows me to learn on a daily basis.

Q: What makes you happy?
A: Simple things make me happy and, most of all, seeing my children smile.
